Top tips For New year Home Refresh

We are passionate about making home decorating approachable - it is one of our favorite things to talk about with folks in the store and we especially love sharing those tips and tricks with our friends @twincitieslive whenever they are kind enough to have us 🧡

After those holiday decorations come down, the house can feel empty and it can feel rather daunting to think about putting previous items back in the same spots. Some of our favorite tips for making your space feel fresh in the new year:

1️⃣ Start with the spaces where you spend most of your time. This time of year, you can find me cozy in my living room (with fireplace roaring), so I love to focus my efforts here. Start with the items you were most sad to put away and happiest to bring back out and decorate from there. Try swapping items that were on your coffee table to your mantle for a fresh feel without buying new

2️⃣ Refreshing smaller items can have a significant impact to the feel of a space. We love to change out pillow covers and use small pillows for a fun update or change the location of blankets by draping over the back of a chair or folding in a more prominent location

3️⃣ Add functional items to your coffee table by updating your coffee table book with your “to be read” list or use games as decor - I love the dominos on my coffee table as a reminder to step away from she screens every now and then

4️⃣ Bring the outside in - when it’s so cold and gray outside, organic elements inside can bring a little life to your space. Use fresh or dried florals and house plants to liven (literally) up your decor. It’s also a great time of year to propagate! Check out our community plant wall to swap plants anytime!

5️⃣ Try a new scent - update your holiday scents with something new. Citrus can be energizing, peppermint + eucalyptus are good for concentration, tea tree + grapefruit are welcoming, and cedar wood, vanilla, lavender are cozy + relaxing
